20 Best Movie Themes of All Time 10-1

Well here is my list from 10 to 1 and I’m just warning you, there will be some omissions but I make no apologies…This is my list damn it, make your own blog.  But seriously there’s so many good theme songs it was hard to chose, so enjoy the top 10.

10. Sunshine: This song is flat out amazing.  Sunshine itself was a vastly underrated sci-fi thriller that a lot of people missed.  That being said, this particular song works so well in the film, making a certain scene seem that much more powerful, on top of the fact that this is an amazing piece of music.

9. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly:  Enrico Morricone was a great musical composer and none of his songs are more famous than the theme to The Good and The Bad and Ugly.  All the sound tracks to the spaghetti westerns of the 70’s are great, but this is the best movie and the best of the themes.  Everyone needs to go through a spaghetti western phase, a  slew of great, classic films.

8.  Terminator: Some songs just fit a movie to a T (see what i did there) and this theme defiantly fits what is one of the greatest action movies of all time.  The booming drums, like the marching of robots with a triumphant hook, just great stuff by composer Brad Field

7. Jurassic Park: How can you not love this theme?  Most people my age will hear this song and you will feel and remember how much fun this movie was when we were growing up.  Great stuff by John Williams.

6. Superman: Honestly, I think the actual Superman theme is the very best thing about those early movies.  John Williams has an uncanny knack for finding a way to make a theme that completely captures a character and he does it here so flawlessly.   When this theme played during the very last episode of Smallville I got goosebumps, something great music will do.

5. Rocky: What needs to be said about Bill Conti’s Rocky theme that hasn’t been said or cover by the high school marching band.  The best compliment I can give this song is it really is inspirational to people. You hear this tune and you want to run through a brick wall for your chance at greatness.

4. Back To The Future: Lost in all the Huey Lewis pop tunes is the fact that the Back To The Future main theme is absolutely incredible.  This song conveys the epicness and adventurous grand scale that this movie needed in a main theme.

3. Star Wars:  The grand daddy of em all, The Star Wars main theme is maybe one of the universally most well known songs of all time.  Hum this tune anywhere in the world and someones gonna know it’s Star Wars.  Personally the best piece of music produced for any of the movies is the Throne Room music, but that’s just me. As far as the Main theme, you don’t need me to tell you how good it is, everyone knows.

2. Halloween:  Simple and Terrifying, John Carpenter is not only an under rated film maker, but music composer as well.  He composed this little ditty that still gives people nightmares, everything about this song works, it’s pretty damn close to perfect.

honorable mention: These movies I wanted really badly to include but they didn’t make the cut.  Robocop, Braveheart, Lord of the Rings, Edward Scissorhands,  True Lies.

1. Indiana Jones: For me personally, this is the absolutely best movie theme of all time.  We all know John Williams is the master of movie scores, but this is Williams at his best capturing the adventuring hero in this tune that will always give me goosebumps and make me feel like a kid every time I hear it.  This is my favorite movie theme of all time, hands down.
