Movie/TV News: Avengers,The Walking Dead, George Lucas To Retire

The Avenger’s Movie Details: Joss Whedon has confirmed that the main character of The Avenger’s movie will be Captain America to which I say “Thank you”  My reservation for how this movie could possibility suck is spreading all these characters too thin and not having a central focus.   Having Cap be the man that drives the main plot is perfect for what you want out of an Avenger movie.  Whedon said on the matter…

“I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie. So that’s what my movie has to be about,” Whedon said. “So much of the movie takes place from Steve Rogers’ perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird ass world. Everyone else has been living in it.”

The Walking Dead: Concerning the show that was inspired by the Imagine comic book The Walking Dead; AMC has confirmed they are all signed on for a 3rd season with 16 episodes.  Glad it’s sticking around, and I hope they are learning from the mistakes they have made .  Here’s a preview of the first episode from the second half of Season 2.

George Lucas to retire:  Lucas announced he’s retiring from rehashing his older successful films, that is until he’s finished writing another shitty Indiana Jones movie.  He’s claiming that he’s going to step away from hollywood and make more personal, smaller films which is something he proclaimed in an interview 10 years ago.  Also he had this to say about Star Wars..

“Why would I make any more,” Lucas says of the “Star Wars” movies, “when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?”

This came off a little depressing at first, because everyone back seat script writing the Star Wars prequels has to be pretty annoying.  On the other hand, just admit they suck.  Admit that if you had someone over your shoulder saying “maybe Jar Jar blowing raspberrys at the Jedi Master is fucking stupid” then things might have turned out a little better.  Or The fact that you never developed Anakin into someone the audience should care about.  That’s not our fault sir, it’s yours.
